Cross Street Project

THE BEFORE

A 1918 bungalow style home occupied a double lot on a side street just off Main Street in Chatham. A large front porch graced the front and the interior was divided into smaller, dark rooms. Its location was impeccable with walk to town convenience and two beaches within a short bike ride. The new owners loved the location and the style of the home, yet the floor plan was obsolete and out of tune with today's lifestyle.

THE AFTER

Minglewood Homes worked with the homes' charming original character and style. The finished project is still bungalow in style with a rear addition and the adding of a dormer to capitalize on additional second floor space. The gracious front porch remains and is the perfect venue to watch the parade of summertime visitors. The home is actually located on the original foundation site. Original square-shaped granite foundation stones were saved and added to the new foundation facade.

The interior is now an open floor plan, filled with light and with a beach house feel. The use of bead board, gleaming wood floors and white trim further enhance this style. The rear addition occupies the new kitchen space and rear facing sun room. The use of white cabinetry and natural granite countertops adds a crispness to the newly created space.

All the bedrooms were placed on the second floor to maximize the first floor living space. The addition of the new second floor dormer and the rear second floor dormer and the rear second story addition provide ample room for two guest bedrooms and a spacious master suite with private bath.

The home now personifies a summertime vacation home in Chatham and is ready to handle the challenges and demands of its new owners.
